About Nisyros
The island of Nisyros is a volcanic island, which gives it a very special character. It has a circular
form with a diameter of about 10 kilometers and has approximately 900 inhabitants. Nisyros offers wonderful
landscapes and walking paths, beautiful beaches and a clear sea, old churches and monasteries with a rich history
and lovely Greek villages with nice restaurants and bars. In sum, Nisyros is a wonderful island on which to enjoy
your holiday and well worth a visit.

The village of Pali
With about 100 inhabitants, the small harbour village of Pali is very peaceful and picturesque. At the edge of the
harbour you will find 5 restaurants, which are all open during the entire day. The village has one mini market where
basic necessities can be bought. Pali is known for its beautiful 'family' beach - not busy, but lively - with soft sand
and a gradually declining sea, ideal for families with children.
Other villages
Next to Pali the island has three other villages. Mandraki is the capital of the island. With its many narrow streets,
lovely squares, little shops and café's, Mandraki is a charming village in which you still can experience the Greek way of life.
The two small villages Nikia and Emborios are located high in the mountains on the road to the volcano. From these
villages the view of the crater of the volcano and the Aegean Sea is spectacular.

Volcano
According to scientists the volcano is an 'active sleeping' one. The last eruption was 15.000 years ago. It has more then
twenty craters, of which five are clearly visible. The biggest crater is called Stefanos, which you can enter by foot.

Beaches on the island
Nisyros has several beaches. The main beach is the beach of Pali, a family beach, which is quite lively, but not too busy
and has shallow swimming areas. People who love complete solace or nudist beaches can go to Lies Beach or Pachia Beach,
which are 10 minutes away from Pali.
Transport
Scooters can be rented in both Mandraki and in Pali. It is also possible to rent cars or call a taxi on the island.
From mid June till the end of September there is a public bus service connecting all the villages on the island.
